Barbara Liskov

Biography

Barbara Liskov is a computer scientist whose work on programming language design, software engineering methodology, and distributed systems earned her the 2008 Turing Award. She is best known for the Liskov Substitution Principle, a fundamental concept in object-oriented programming. She was one of the first women in the United States to earn a PhD in computer science.
