One of the First Computer Programmers
Biography
Klára Dán von Neumann was one of the first computer programmers in history. She wrote the code for Monte Carlo method simulations on the ENIAC and MANIAC I computers, work that was critical to the Manhattan Project and hydrogen bomb calculations at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Despite her essential contributions to early computing, her work was largely uncredited during her lifetime, overshadowed by the fame of her husband, mathematician John von Neumann.
