Biography
Hedy Lamarr was both a glamorous Hollywood actress and a brilliant inventor. During World War II, she co-invented a frequency-hopping spread spectrum communication system to prevent the jamming of torpedo guidance signals. Though the Navy initially dismissed her work, the principles she developed became the foundation for modern wireless technologies including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. She was posthumously inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame.
