Olga Ladyzhenskaya
奥尔加·拉德任斯卡娅
Pioneer of Partial Differential Equations and Fluid Dynamics
Biography
Olga Ladyzhenskaya made foundational contributions to the theory of partial differential equations and fluid dynamics that profoundly shaped modern mathematical physics. She proved the existence and uniqueness of solutions for the Navier-Stokes equations in two dimensions, a landmark result in the study of fluid flow. A student of Ivan Petrovsky, she authored over 250 papers and received the Lomonosov Gold Medal from the Russian Academy of Sciences in 2002 for her extraordinary contributions to mathematics.
