Biography

Evelyn Boyd Granville was the second African-American woman to receive a PhD in mathematics in the United States, earning her degree from Yale in 1949. She worked at IBM and later at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, where she developed computer programs for trajectory analysis during the Mercury and Apollo missions. She spent the latter part of her career teaching mathematics at universities, inspiring future generations.
