Biography
Mary Allen Wilkes was a pioneering computer programmer who became the first person to have a personal computer in her home. While working at MIT Lincoln Laboratory, she designed the operating system for the LINC, often considered the first minicomputer. In 1965, she took a LINC home to continue her work — years before personal computers existed commercially. She later became a lawyer, but her early work helped envision the personal computing revolution.
