Andrea Ghez

Biography

Andrea Ghez shared the 2020 Nobel Prize in Physics for her discovery of a supermassive compact object at the center of the Milky Way galaxy. Using the Keck Observatory in Hawaii, she developed techniques to peer through interstellar dust and tracked stars orbiting the invisible object now known as Sagittarius A*. She became the fourth woman to win the Nobel Prize in Physics.
