Helen Quinn
海伦·奎因
Co-Developer of Peccei-Quinn Theory
Biography
Helen Quinn is an Australian-American theoretical physicist who co-developed the Peccei-Quinn theory in 1977, proposing an elegant solution to the strong CP problem in quantum chromodynamics. This theory predicted the existence of a hypothetical particle called the axion, which remains an active area of experimental search. A fellow of the American Physical Society and a professor at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, she has also made significant contributions to science education reform in the United States.
