Rana el Kaliouby is an Egyptian-American computer scientist who pioneered the field of emotion AI — technology that can read and respond to human emotions. She co-founded Affectiva, the first company to commercialize emotion recognition technology, with applications spanning healthcare, automotive safety, and market research. Her algorithms analyze facial expressions to detect nuanced emotional states in real time. She is the author of 'Girl Decoded' (2020) and serves as deputy CEO of Smart Eye.
